contained emotions explores the complex nature of human emotion
and the masks we wear to conceal all that we carry with us. Crowded lines form an imperfectly shaped container of feelings and experiences ingrained in my existence - a sort of storage room to hold the parts of myself that must be tucked away from the world. From the outside, the container appears almost orderly, embodying a false sense of composure. But when you reach within, there is an entanglement of memories and emotions tightly bound together.
The older I get, the more crowded the container gets. Sometimes I feel the pressure of everything I tucked away over the years trying to escape, and when I’m alone, I allow the web of my existence to collapse into a formless state. I sit with every part of myself, overcome by feelings of nostalgia and loss, often channeling it in my art and writing. I allow myself the space to remove all of my masks for a little while before neatly placing the entanglement back into its container.
